Are Online Communities the new Blogs?
Tuesday, 09 December 2008 19:00

It seems that online communities are everywhere.

Start ups like Ning and KickApps have got meaningful VC funding to start them. More people are presenting on topics like Building Online Communities. Heck, even traditional blogger like Brian Clark are pondering on how to increase the level of interaction on their blogs.

I have been making this argument for a while now. I think that all sites live on a progression to becoming an online community. This is why I prefer Joomla for blogging. I wrote last year about why you want to use Joomla instead of wordpress, and it stills rings true. Joomla is *much* more extensible and making that leap from blog to community is much much easier.

What do you think, should all sites move towards becoming an online community?
