Joomla Powered Pancakes
Tagged in Joomla Sites
mmmmmmmmmm...
I was browsing an interesting tool I found recently, inspired by Steve Burge's recent blog about bigger sites running Joomla.
I discovered that you can get Joomla Powered Pancakes!
The International House of Pancakes (IHOP) is running on Joomla, 1.0 by the looks of it.
Some other sites I came across?
- National Down Syndrome Society
- Austin City Limits
- Austrian Embassy
- City of Boulder, Colorado
- SteynOnline
Know any other Joomla powered sites?

Barrie - Great site and great information. I've got your Joomla! 1.5 book and I've posted several times on www.joomlabook.com. I love to see posts like this, showing "major" Joomla sites. I think Joomla is a great tool and I plan to do several sites using it. Anyway, I have several more general questions about your blog. 1. What did you use to change the basic (and bland) "Read More" text? I know I can change it for each article but that seems *so* tedious to me! 2. What are you using for the tag "cloud"? According to everything I could find (and according to your book for that matter), there's not yet a Joomla 1.5 extension that will handle creating the tag "cloud." 3. Are you using the same type of blogging concept as outlined in Chapter 12 of your book? 4. What are you using for comments? I'm using yvComment which has seemed to work well in my testing but I'm always looking for the best tools. Thanks. Rick |

Barrie - Interesting. I'm also interested to know why you decided to deviate from what you recommended in Chapter 12 of your book. Thanks Rick |

Ok. Fair enough. I was just wondering if there was some specific design or technological reason. FWIW, I took that chapter (12) to heart. I'm about finished with my first Joomla blog site. Though the site isn't "live" so to speak, here's the link so you can take a look at what I've done: http://www.10daystoagreatmarriage.com/ Rick |

| Not to deviate totally from pancakes (because I do love them), but to add my two cents into the comment discussion, myblog does offer ping technorati, and tagging, as well as some security features to ward off terrorists. The down side is added javascripts and css fluff to your Joomla. Great extensions though. Now back to pancakes. |

Pancakes! Reminds me of that Family Guy episode where Meg works at this diner but lies to the customers that Stewie is a crack-baby in order to get big tips. I just picked up your book, adding it to my vast Joomla book collection. When are you going to show me the "secret" Joomla! handshake and when do I get my Top Secret Decoder ring? If it wasn't for your most excellent J!1.5 template tutorial, I'd have given up on Joomla! long ago. Once I learned that Joomla! is based on the menu system controlling the modules, it became as easy as slicing through a towering stack of pancakes!!! When are you going to write a new book about Joomla! extensibility and template customization? Put me on the waiting list! Thanks Barrie |

Hi Mister North, On the News page of the Joom!Fish web site you can read this post http://www.joomfish.net/commun...shing.html: "One of the largest corporations in the world selected Joom!Fish for a solution to their main corporate web site." The web site of Danone is powered by Joomla! (version 1.0 I think) http://www.danone.com Kind regards Simon Delmotte |

I do not think we really qualify as a big site, 600 visitors per day, but the U.S. government is starting to us Joomla! as well. I run this site, SBDCNet.org, for the Small Business Administration and I see the a lot of CMSs in the future for government sites especially for the small to intermediate sites. |

| Thanks. The site runs on 1.0, the templating in 1.5 is really the only thing I have felt like I dont truly understand since I went to Joomla!. |
