Migrating to Joomla 1.5
Tagged in Untagged
If you have tried to grab a free Joomla template in the last few days, you may have noticed that they are not there. The problem is due to me recently moving hosting companies. When I moved over, the extension I use to distribute burped somewhat.
I have had a few helpful emails, like this one....
I wanted to look at your free template downloads. THERE ARE NONE! I hate sh*t like this. Fix your GD Site you morons! It's bad for your business!

Insipired by such useful feedback, I thought how can I make my current download difficulty a useful lesson for people?
Well, at www.joomlabook.com, I am using Docman in Joomla 1.5 to service my downloads. So all I need to do is upgrade compassdesigns.net to the shiny new version of Joomla from its current 1.0.13.
So over the next week or so, I am going to build a spiffy new blog powered by Joomla 1.5 stable. I'll be doing the migration on a new account on my server, www.makeajoomlablog.com (that link might not yet be live), and blogging about it here.
Quite apart from being a good test case on how to migrate to Joomla 1.5, it will be a useful experiment on what's the best possible blog you can squeeze out of Joomla. It seems that many bloggers don't feel its a viable option right now. Of course, as a Joomla-head, I think Joomla is perfect for blogs.

| I bought the book Amazon says that it wont ship for a while. I am an experienced designer and I have installed Joomla a few times but I have a great need to learn more of the under pinnings. So I bought the book. Now that I wont be getting it for a while I need information from other sources how do I get the blank template to do the online tuts?!! |
