There are some big name sites out there using Joomla. Often its difficult to spot that Joomla is "under the hood". Most big sites have professional design and customization which makes the site very different from what is acheivable with smaller budgets.
One recent site a came across recently using Joomla is Dennis Kucinich for President.
Even though these sites are beyond reach of most of us, its great to see the potential of Joomla. Maybe as you browse around you see a particular aspect that you would like to implement on your site.
Its interesting to see that even some big sites get tripped up by some basic rules of launching your site. Never go live with empty content!
Do you know of any big sites powered by Joomla?

Here's one. It's not a "big" site (yet), but it is a great "web 2.0" example of what can be achieved with Joomla: http://www.mangolanguages.com/

Mangolanguages.com is using Versatility III from Rockettheme.com. I believe the Dennis Kucinich site is also a modified RocketTheme.com template, I could be wrong about that one though, but I feel like i've seen that somewhere but it is modified a lot.

This was a great post on the effect Joomla is having in the political world. I work for a Florida Web Design company, and we are always refering people to Joomla for their low cost website needs.

I am relatively new to Joomla and cut my teeth on a re-design for a museum in Dallas, Texas. www.aamdallas.org
