Spacing Vertical Columns in Joomla

If you have used Joomla much, you’ll know that controlling the layout of items can be challenging at times. If you are a designer, you’ll know that trying to get these nested tables outputted by Joomla can be a chore.

While working on a client’s site, I came up with this handy snippet of CSS. I don’t know why I had never thought of cascading the CSS for the table styles before. Its able to produce some interesting effects playing with the background, margin and padding. You can add borders too. If you want to go further, add some td’s and tr’s to see how they effect the nested tables.

table table.contentpaneopen {background:#eee;margin:0 10px;padding:3px;}
