Over the weekend I had the pleasure of being invited to speak at a class about Open Source Content Management Systems at Marlboro College Graduate Center. Taught by Jen Kramer McKibben, the course is focused on using Joomla to build online communities. Most of my recent speaking at events has revolved around using Joomla to build sites, Joomla templating or SEO. I thought I would take the chance on something new for me and reflect on the nature of online communities and how Joomla can be a piece of that jigsaw. The result was Building Online Communities With Joomla. I'd like to thank the class students for the interesting questions they had to ask. Stump the Chump is one of my favorite games! On a related note, if you are in the New England area, check out the new Joomla! User Group New England in Brattleboro, VT. While researching the topic, I spent some time trying to find good examples for online communities that use Joomla. I found plenty that were *about* Joomla, but struggled otherwise. Do you know of any large online communities that use Joomla for their site? |
