I came across a curious article in last week's Economist called "Government Offline". It was about how government uses technology and the web to improve services (its conclusion was badly!)

Normally this blog is full of pretty boring stuff. Like how to How to get People to Read More of your Joomla site or Template Names, Paths and Base URL for 1.5 Joomla Templates. The point is I rarely go off topic..

My buddy Mitch posted about a funny letter that Steve Jobs posted where Richard Stallman educates Dvorak about the GPL.

I came across a great project recently, the environmental blog action day. Its a simple concept, to get thousands of bloggers around the world to be talking about the environment on October 15th. 

Ok, so I finally broke down and made the switch to gmail. I have been using a POP client (thunderbird), but the number of emails I get a day was overwhelming (150+).

I'll add to this post over the next few days with some reflections on the move. Might be of use to people considering the same.

I recently came across an excellent resource that would be worth your bookmark - a great collection of open source resources from Design Vitality. 

Joomla is a powerful open source content management system that has grown in popularity since its rebranding from Mambo in 2006. Its two key features of ease of administration and flexibility of templating have led to it being used to power everything from corporate Intranets to school district sites.

Its not often I post off topic, there is too many cool things to write about Joomla! Just this once I thought I would show you a short clip of a modern SUV struggling along the roads to my house.
