Welcome to the Compass Designs website, powered by Joomla 1.5! The goal of this new site is to be the place to bookmark if you are looking for quality Joomla templates, tutorials, news and tips.
The JoomlaExpo in Chicago last May was so fun, our friends at the Content Management System Association (CMSA) decided to do it again this December in lovely mile high Denver!
I recently got a link from a skype contact about a report that IBM and Websense periodically release. It included open source frameworks such as Joomla and Drupal.
When it comes to the Top Ten worst offenders in terms of vulnerabilities, big players like IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Sun, Cisco, Oracle and IBM continue to make the list.
But this is the first time that community-developed open source software such as the Drupal and Joomla! content-management software packages for the Web also showed up on the list.
But that wasn't the most interesting aspect of the story.
Compass Design now offers Joomla Training and education across New England. If you want:
.... then you need to attend our training.
The training is a flexible full day session where you learn how to build a Joomla website, get traffic for it, and make it convert. You'll be guided through how best to leverage Joomla for your organization and be shown the tricks and tips that the pros use. At the end of the day, you should have site that's ready to go live online.
If you didn't know, Brian Clark is the founding editor of Copyblogger, and co-founder of Teaching Sells. I am a daily reader of Copyblogger and have often used him for inspiration for posts here at Compass.
I have been a charter member of his Teaching Sells site since it launched. Quite simply, it teaches you everything you might possibly want to know about building an launching a subscription online learning site. At $97 a month, some might think it expensive, but I consider the value of what I have been learning there ten times that.
As his site has been growing nicely, I was surprised to get an email from Brian telling me he was closing the doors to TS, and gave me a link to an explanation why. (I should add that Brian has used his own TS site as a living example of how to create an online learning website).
