One of the more exciting new releases for Joomla Joomla 1.5 recently has been K2 from Joomlaworks.

K2 is a content construction component, which lets you create custom content types (items) for your Joomla Joomla! website. With K2, build all sorts of different types of page: news, blogs, product catalogs, work portfolio, knowledge base, download/document manager, directory listing, event listing etc.

I thought I wold take k2 for a spin in a "raw" Joomla video review. I installed K2 and put it through its paces without ever having used it before. Raw look, no reading documentation, just install it and play!

Having a form on your website is incredibly useful. Its the easiest way to get information from your site visitors, which is critical for an interactive site. For such a useful and obvious extension, its always surprised me that there were not many options, and even fewer that work on 1.5.

A couple of weeks ago the Community Builder Team released the next version of Community Builder, one that runs natively on Joomla Joomla 1.5.

Community Builder is one of the most popular extensions for Joomla Joomla. Its been a hot item on the Joomla Extensions site since I can remember, and is one of the top editor's picks. In a nutshell, it transforms Joomla into a social networking powerhouse. It provides features and tools centered around the the Joomla site user, like blogs, profiles and galleries.

Over at Copyblogger, Sonia Simone made a recent post about Getting Naked. No, it wasn't a college party, but rather the concept of being honest, sometimes painfully so in your blog. Current wisdom among bloggers is that this is a good standard to follow, you'll see popular bloggers ranging from Dooce, SEOMoz and even Joomla Joomla's Alledia sharing things that traditionally would be thought of as perhaps private. In each case, the sharing has been well received, and all importantly, worthy of traffic.

Last week, the Joomla Joomla Extensions Team made a welcome change in how they are asking third party developers to post their extensions to extensions.joomla.org.

Previously, you could search for extensions that work with 1.5, but the results would include many (if not most) that only worked in legacy mode.

Well, that's been solved.
